Scope a no-code integration

Turn a business workflow into a clear trigger, filter and action before choosing the connector.

Write the workflow in one sentence

When a specific event happens, and the record meets a defined condition, perform one named action in the destination system.

  • Example: when a shipment reaches a configured milestone, prepare a customer update.
  • Example: when an approved order changes, update its linked row in an operations tracker.
  • Example: when an exception appears, create a follow-up task for the assigned team.

Map trigger, filter and action

  1. 1Identify the source event and the exact record it refers to.
  2. 2Filter out records outside the intended organization, status or workflow.
  3. 3Map required destination fields and stable identifiers.
  4. 4Define what counts as success and where the result can be inspected.
  5. 5Keep communications and financial writes subject to the account’s approval process.

Avoid duplicates and loops

  • Use a stable link between source and destination records.
  • Check whether the destination entry already exists before creating another.
  • Avoid a two-way update that repeatedly triggers itself.
  • Keep test notifications separate from real customer contacts.

Test the exception paths

  • Required field is missing.
  • Record is changed twice in quick succession.
  • Destination connection expires.
  • An action completes but the response is lost.
  • The workflow is re-enabled after a pause.

Bring this to the setup conversation

  • The source and destination applications.
  • A redacted sample record and field mapping.
  • Expected volume and acceptable delay.
  • Who can approve sends or record changes.
  • Who will monitor failures and own recovery.
